Lab Use Guidelines (March 2009)

Hi everyone,
We’re noticing a heavy lab usage for certain blocks, especially C block (D & A blocks are other potentially heavy use blocks). Here’s a “brief” reminder (for new staff in particular) that can help us with using the lab 104 effectively:

  • Please send a runner to check if lab has been booked before sending down students, or talk to the booking teacher to negotiate shared use
  • Please be considerate of your lab bookings (i.e./ book then no-show, or multiple bookings that can be condensed). It helps if you jot down how many students will be coming down, or if it's a TOC booking (for additional tech support).
  • Gr’s 7-10 classes must be supervised at all times. High needs students should be with an EA or under classroom teacher supervision.
  • We have 7 computer stations (2 additional ones are designated for L4U system only) in the library for overflow (please book)/ and 4 in the Learning Assistance room (check with Shellie first)
  • There are computers in many of the classrooms (4 stations in rm 306 available during C blk). Check with classroom teaches first.
  • Partner up on computer stations, if it works with your lesson, when there is more than one class sharing the lab.
  • If lab is booked, can your lesson be delivered via LCD projector in your room instead?
  • Please only book half a block at a time* (some classes do have two sections)
  • Lab 106 is fully used in all blocks for scheduled classes.
